Terms & Policies
Last Updated: October 26, 2025.
1. Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the 4SP Essential Student Toolkit (the "Service"), which includes all associated applications such as Dashboard, Notes, Messenger V2, Dictionary, and the Humanity Agent (AI).
User Obligations and Prohibited Conduct
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You are specifically prohibited from using features to violate the policies of any academic institution.
- Misuse of QOL Features: The Panic Key and Tab Disguising features are provided for privacy and quality-of-life purposes. They must not be used to facilitate or conceal acts of academic dishonesty, cheating, plagiarism, or any form of fraud. Any such misuse will result in immediate termination of your account and may be reported to relevant authorities.
- Content Standards: You are responsible for all content you create, upload, or share, including notes, messages, and files. Content must not be illegal, harmful, threatening, or infringing upon the rights of others.
- Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account password. We use third-party services like Firebase for authentication.
Intellectual Property and Content Rights
Your Content: You retain all intellectual property rights to the content you generate within the Service, including notes and chat messages. By posting content, you grant 4SP a license only to store, display, and process that content as necessary to provide the Service to you (e.g., storing encrypted notes or relaying messages).
Service IP: The Service itself, including all code, design, and applications, is the property of 4simpleproblems.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account access immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any breach of these Terms, particularly for academic fraud or abuse of QOL features.
2. Privacy Policy
This policy describes how 4SP collects, uses, and protects your personal and non-personal data.
Information We Collect
- Account Data: We collect your email address, unique user ID (UID), and basic profile information when you authenticate using our Firebase system. This includes sign-in methods like Google, GitHub, and Microsoft.
- Notes Content: All text entered into the Notes application is encrypted client-side using the Crypto-JS library before it is stored. We do not have the ability to decrypt or view the plaintext content of your notes.
- Messenger Content: Messages and files in Messenger V2 are subject to hybrid storage methods, but your identity is associated with the content.
- Settings: We store user preferences, such as your customized Navigation Color, in your browser's localStorage.
Humanity Agent (AI) Data
The Humanity Agent utilizes Gemini models. Your prompts and the AI's responses are processed by Google's Generative Language API.
- Location Data: Location Sharing is OFF by default. If you enable this setting, we use your browser's geolocation to get your coordinates, which are then used by Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) to perform a reverse geocode for contextually relevant answers (e.g., local weather).
- Web Search: The Web Search toggle controls whether the AI can perform live web searches to answer your query.
Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:
- Firebase: For user authentication, database, and infrastructure.
- Google / Gemini: For processing and responding to queries via the Humanity Agent.
- Nominatim / OpenStreetMap: For reverse geocoding location data when location sharing is enabled.
- dictionaryapi.dev: For providing word definitions through the Dictionary application.
